Common Foods That Increase Your Risk Of Dementia

You’ve probably heard it before: if something is too good to be true, it probably is. Sadly, this is the case for some of our favorite foods as well. They might be tasty and seem great for the moment, but these very common foods that every American eats lead to a dangerous path: dementia.

I’m sorry to break it to you, but one of these foods is processed cheese. Yes, I know, wrapped sandwiches are great and so are French potatoes when mixed with this good-looking food. However, any processed cheese product, including string cheese and pre-wrapped sandwich slices, contains proteins that slowly build up in the body, which have been linked to Alzheimer’s.

The same goes for processed meat too. While everybody knows that it’s more comfortable to eat it ham or bacon this way, most processed meats contain carcinogenic chemical compounds called nitrosamines, which help to increase shelf life. Thus, they increase your risk of developing Alzheimer over time.

So what can you eat in order to stay healthy? Well, one of the best solution is the MIND diet, which emphasizes leafy greens, such as spinach, generous helpings of vegetables, nuts, berries, beans, fish, poultry, olive oil, and even wine. It minimizes the incorporation of red meat, butter, sweets, and fast food or fried food. Of course, cheat meals are a must, so make sure that you enjoy every bit of your diet!
