Maybe it comes as no surprise that ham packs a lot of sodium because it is required in its preparation process; still, if it’s not made by you or someone you know, it’s best to consume it on occasions.

Just a 3-ounce serving of roasted ham contains approximately 1,120 milligrams of sodium, or, better said, almost 50 percent of the RDI. Plus, this salt seasoning trend seems to go only up as food companies rely more and more on salt, especially when it comes to ham.

In a quite recent national sampling of most U.S. foods, researchers discovered that this popular food choice was 14 percent higher in sodium than it was in a previous analysis. If you love ham as much as I do, at least eat it in small amounts from time to time.
