Do you know that America’s favorite food is not burgers but pizza? And for good reasons… Pizza tastes heavenly. Yet, it’s not something most nutritionists would eat unless it is homemade… If not, its unhealthy counterparts, store-bought and frozen, come with a high amount of sodium.

A large slice of store-bought pizza has 765 milligrams of sodium on average. This represents 33 percent of the RDI. And if you thought that you’d eat healthier versions at a restaurant, you are wrong. A slice of restaurant-prepared pizza contains almost 1,000 milligrams of sodium (41 percent of the RDI).

And, the chances of eating more than one slice are pretty high—three slices of restaurant-prepared pizza pack way more than the recommended amounts for sodium. Make your own pizza at home, or limit yourself to only one slice.
