Nutrition Myth: Breakfast Is The Most Important Meal

While we may think that eating breakfast is the most critical aspect in setting yourself up for a healthy day, research shows that this might not be the case for ALL adults.

For example, studies show that skipping breakfast may reduce calorie intake.

Also, intermittent fasting, during which breakfast is either ignored or consumed later in the day, has been linked to many benefits, including improved blood sugar control and reductions in inflammatory characteristics.

But, intermittent fasting can also be achieved by consuming a regular breakfast and then having your last meal earlier in the evening to maintain that 14–16 hours fasting window.

But bear in mind that this doesn’t apply to growing children and teens.

Or especially those with increased nutrient needs, such as pregnant women and those with certain health conditions, because skipping meals can lead to adverse health effects in these situations.

And some evidence shows that eating breakfast and consuming more calories earlier in the day instead of at night, included with a smaller meal frequency, can benefit your health by reducing inflammation and body weight.

However, if you enjoy breakfast, eat it. If you’re not a breakfast person, don’t add it to your daily routine just because you feel you SHOULD!

So don’t let this nutrition myth change your perfectly healthy lifestyle!
