Expired Food: Pasta
2 years past expiration date
Pasta falls under the dry product category, which is why it doesn’t spoil quickly. The same stands for whole-grain pasta, as the dryness offsets rancidity. That is why you can safely cook it past its due date. The quality may just suffer a bit.
The same goes for uncooked rice, as well as raw oats and oatmeal. But now, if we’re talking about FRESH uncooked pasta, that is a different story.
If it has been kept refrigerated and in an unopened package, it can still be good to consume for a full 7-10 days after the use-by date on the packet.

Extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Thank You!
Thank you. Now I know.
very annoying to have to click on each page. can’t you make just one long list?
I spent 1 year and 1 day in Viet Nam. Because the war was going on most of the time we survived on C-Rations. These were the WW2 style, canned foods. all were marked WW2 1943 production date. They were all we had and weren’t all that bad. exception the Lima beans were awful. most were packed in a lot of grease.
When I was cleaning the fridge, I found a flip yogurt that had fallen down behind the drawer. It was nearly a year past the “best by” date. It was my favorite flavor, so I had check it out! It had separated, so I mixed it well, added the mix-in and tried it. It smelled good and tasted fine, so I ate it. That was about 5 yrs ago and I’m still alive and did not get sick.
So… if you have something that you’re wondering about – check it before you toss it out!
