8. Agave nectar
Since we all know the negative effects sugar has on our bodies, some of us have been searching for ‘healthy’ alternatives. One popular alternative is agave nectar, also known as agave syrup. But is it really healthy?
Agave nectar is usually associated with healthy sugar alternatives, but, in fact, it’s worse than sugar. Why? Because it contains excessive amounts of fructose that can lead to serious metabolic issues when consumed regularly.
Sugar packs approximately 50 percent fructose and about 55 percent high fructose corn syrup, while agave syrup has much more, up to 90 percent. So, natural doesn’t necessarily mean healthy.
