Constipation
Bananas have been known to cause constipation. And while we know, it helps with bowel movements, that depends on how ripe the fruit really is. The green kind is packed with hardy starches, which increase the risk of constipation.
And in heavy doses, it contains tannic acid, inhibiting your digestive system. Tannic acid hinders the secretion of gastrointestinal fluid and movement. However, ripe bananas can help alleviate constipation.
Weight Gain
Bananas contain fewer calories than your favorite junk food or chips, we can accept that, but they have just enough calories to make you put on the extra weight.
For example: A medium-size banana has 105 calories. It’s much higher than a medium-sized orange with 62 calories, a bowl of watermelon with 45 calories, or a cup of grapes with 62 calories.
So, if you want to consume a low-calorie snack food, this fruit may not be the best option for you.
Instead, you can consume fruits and vegetables high in water content, such as strawberries, melons, peaches, cucumbers, lettuce, and plums.
They contain fewer calories and a high fiber content to keep you full for a more extended period.
