A good night’s sleep seems impossible for you? Well… you’re not alone. Insomnia is actually affecting about 30 percent of US adults. Plus, this sleep disorder can be triggered by a wide range of factors such as medication, medical conditions, and unhealthy habits, so it’s not just about stressful life events.

In some cases, food intake can contribute to insomnia. In other words, what we put on our plates can transform us into owls (or not). And while sleeping pills work their magic instantly, over time they can have serious consequences on our health. Irregular heartbeat, depression and high blood pressure are several well-known effects of those magic pills. That’s why it’s best to avoid them.

Instead, you can turn to certain foods. Adding several foods in your diet can help you sleep. Don’t believe us? See it for yourself! Eat at least two of the following foods on a regular basis—you’ll most definitely get a good night’s sleep.

  1. As a non-sleeper, your article was interesting and informative. I’m anxious to try these remedies. Oh, for a solid nights sleep.

  2. Hi! Interesting and helpful article! I have been eating bananas when I wake up in the middle of the night because, for some unknown reason to me, they helped me get back to sleep. Now I know why! I was wondering, though, do these foods make you sleepy during the day if you eat them for snacks or lunch? If so, are there foods that energize you? Should you combine them with those energizing foods?
