18. Bagels and other breads
Most types of breads aren’t really abundant in sodium, but the problem is serving. People tend to eat a lot of bread, and sodium adds up. Bagels, in particular, are a big sodium contributor to someone’s elevated sodium levels.
Only one store-bought bagel packs more than 400 milligrams of sodium, meaning 17 percent of the RDI. Now… how many bagels are you eating in one day? Two? Three? More?!
Try to eat no more than one bagel per day, or, even better, opt for whole-grain versions. They are much healthier than the classic ones.
