When a small amount of castor oil is consumed, you’ll get a type of unsaturated fatty acid called ricinoleic acid, responsible for making you go to the bathroom.


This type of unsaturated fatty acid works by signaling a certain receptor found in your digestive tract that maximizes your intestinal muscles’ movements to prepare bowel movements.

Several studies showed that castor oil could help ease constipation symptoms by minimizing straining and softening stool consistency. But remember to take a small amount and only when it’s absolutely necessary.
