3. Veggie wraps
Salt, water, flour, oil, and a little bit of love are all it takes to make a basic tortilla. And you would assume that most supermarkets sell just that, but that’s not the case of some brands that claim to use spinach in their wraps. According to Janine Whiteson, RD, if you read the labels carefully, you’ll find almost 30 ingredients listed on these wraps.
Plus, they contain only 2 percent spinach or so. What’s that? Spinach wraps with 2 percent spinach… That’s hilarious! Veggie wraps are generally caloric bombs, so it’s best to avoid them.
4. Vegetable rice blends
Most rice blends claim they pack healthy ingredients such as broccoli, but all nutritionists bet that there’s not much of the nutritious veggie in there. In fact, Whiteson notes that this type of rice mix isn’t far from the hydrogenated palm oil one.
She also added that most vegetable rice blends contain tons of sodium. So, just like spinach wraps, you won’t get much of the green stuff either.
