6. Soda and Diet Soda
If we are talking about iconic American foodstuffs then Coca Cola is up there as one of the most recognized brands not just here but all over the world. However famous it may be its effects on your body are now equally famous, or should we say infamous.
Again, Dr. Adam Splaver has a thing or two to say about soda. “Drinking soda has serious consequences,” he advises, “Regular soda promotes an insulin spike, which leads to weight gain and can cause a host of metabolic disorders. And the sugar can lead to inflammation, which causes cardiovascular disease. Consuming diet soda will tell your pancreas to make more insulin, which will increase your adiposity (fat deposits) and risk of cardiovascular disease.”
Our advice? Instead of ‘Taste the Feeling’, feel your way around a fruit basket and squeeze yourself a fresh glass of juice.
