9. They boost your vision
While a banana a day won’t give you eagle vision (even if you’ll eat one daily for the rest of your life), it will most definitely guard your eyes against certain conditions.
Thanks to their vitamin A and C content, bananas can boost your vision when consumed regularly. On top of that, they also contain beta carotene, a powerful antioxidant that protects cells from damage. And that’s not all. Bananas pack other essential nutrients such as lutein and vitamin E, which are both responsible for good eye health.
10. They detoxify your body
Due to their pectin content, bananas are a detox superfruit. This type of fiber ‘grabs’ the toxic compounds found in your blood and throws them out through urine. Additionally, it has been shown that pectin can decrease the amount of body fat.
However, you should note that green bananas contain more pectin than ripe ones. The greener the banana, the more pectin it has. Plus, if you’re a diabetic, you should always choose green bananas over ripe ones. Here’s why!Â

You are trying to make a monkey out of me! I enjoy one every morning.
Thanks for all your information about eating bananas. Personally, I consume bananas on a regular basis and at 92 years old, my health is in good shape. I also eat banana and peanut butter sandwiches,
which are really good. I visited a banana plantation in the Caribbean and it was really interesting to see how they are harvested and made ready for shipment.
Green ones have advantages that yellow ones do not. Green ones ripen into yellow ones. Would eating yellowish-green ones give the best from each type?
I do eat bananas!
Did not realize all the benefits that they provide the body.
Very useful information in regard to the health benefits of bananas.
I shall increase to one per day rather than just a couple per week.
Thank you
