Flaxseed
A tablespoon of ground flaxseed over your cereal or yogurt provides 2.3 grams of fibre, often more than what’s in the cereal you eat every day. Flaxseed is well-known for its lignans, because acts like estrogen in your body and contributes to minimize rates of hormone-related cancers. Flaxseed contains an essential fatty acid called alpha-linolenic acid and this acid thins the blood, so the risk of heart attack is reduced. Thanks to their stores of soluble fibre, flaxseeds can lower cholesterol.
