Cheesecake Factory Fettuccini Alfredo
When it comes to sauce-y pasta dishes, Moreno warns to be weary. “I suspect the sodium sinner here is in the sauce,” she says. “Pasta doesn’t contain sodium, but I bet they add salt to the water when cooking. The fettuccini sauce should be butter, garlic, and Parmesan cheese, but they are probably using salted butter, garlic salt, and a really salty Parmesan cheese.”
So how can you avoid this sodium avalanche? Moreno recommends eating less of it. “This is a tremendous portion size which is also contributing to the salt whammy. A more sensible one-cup serving of fettuccini Alfredo, even with the doctored-up sauce, might have a much more decent salt content.” Split it with a few friends and order something with protein and vegetables as a main.
