2. Peaches
Are you waiting for that fourth of July peach pie? If the answer is yes, try buying them organic this year, because the Environmental Working Group (EWG) revealed that regular peaches can have multiple residues. In fact, this fuzzy fruit occupies the sixth place on the EWG’s 2018 “Dirty Dozen” list of pesticide-heavy produce.
Unfortunately for most of us, the organic version can be quite expensive at some times of the year. That’s why you should wait until peaches are in season (peach season is at its peak in July and August), when you’ll most likely find them at your local grocery store. Plus, it appears that some compounds found in peaches may provide protection against cancer by limiting the formation, growth, and spread of cancerous cells. Peach pie, here I come!
