Canned tuna can legitimately last for years because they are sterile, meaning that bacteria can enter to spoil them. However, if you see that the can is leaking, throw it immediately because damaged products may be contaminated with bacteria. And yeah, try to opt for canned tuna packed in water. It is healthier than its oily version.
