11. Broccoli
This cruciferous veggie is not really loved by many, but if you do like it, at least cook it before consuming it. According to a New York City-based dietitian, Allison Knott, M.S., R.D.N., C.S.S.D., broccoli has some impressive health benefits. From reducing the chances of developing cancer to improving digestive health, broccoli is indeed a superfood.
If you want to get all these health benefits, boil and steam it. But do not eat it raw! There are some downsides to eating raw broccoli. It may increase stomach irritation because the fiber found in it hasn’t been tempered by cooking. As a result, you can experience frequent bathroom trips due to severe diarrhea.
