We are in a real bind. Hubby can’t have dark green leafy veggies, especially spinach and broccoli. He gets gout from them He also gets gout from beans. So it’s very hard to have decent meals. I do use a lot of herbs like oregano, thyme, rosemary, parsley, rubs using various seasonings, cumin, crushed red pepper, and cinnamon to name a few and he drinks 2-3 cups of coffee a day in the morning. He won’t touch grains. So, I’m always in a quandary of what to make. My daily headache.
Maybe he needs to take ALLUPURINOL to lower his URIC ACID levels?
Oatmeal with slivered almonds and blueberries. Raspberries also a good choice. Sour cherries are great as well, dried or raw.
Lettuce salads with apples and raisins with cucumbers and carrots. Tuna salad with red onions and celery.
Salmon for dinner with cole slaw with shredded cabbage and shredded carrots. Red wine if he drinks. Since he doesn’t like grains, beer is out.
Pasta with marinara sauce or an olive oil with garlic and red pepper flakes.
Green beans with dried onion flakes.
Cauliflower can be mashed as a mashed potato substitute.
Oven roasted chicken breasts.
Iced Peppermint tea is delicious and doesn’t take much sugar as an alternative to other beverages.
i feel your pain. My husband would not eat veggies. If i may suggest, find other foods that will provide the nutrient that Broccoli does. Items that will not give him gout. My husband would not eat zuccini unless it was fried. I grinded in up and mixed it with sauce. He never knew. As for grains. grind up some oatmeal and include a half a cup in pancake batter, corn bread batter, cookies, whatever you can get him to eat. Think outside the box. Not what he won’t eat but how can you prepare it to get him the nutrient he needs. Good luck
IF YOU cook with lots of herbs especially OREGANO that in itself will cause GOUT. TOO MUCH seasoning is no good for GOUT> TRY ALLOPURINOL, needs a prescription for it.
