Spanish ham
Spanish ham is renowned worldwide for being particularly delicious. And if you’d like to indulge in some in the comfort of your own home, tough luck, you can’t, unless you’re ready to jump through some massive hoops.
Because none of the pork slaughterhouses in Spain meet FDA standards, the hams are considered contraband. That’s because of fears of spreading swine fever.
But we do have some good news for you fans of Spanish hams! The government lifted the ban in 2011, meaning that there is a slight chance for you to get your hands on some. However, if you go on vacation and plan on returning with some through customs, you won’t be allowed unless you have an FDA license.
