Vinegar Diet?
Lord Byron had a big fear of gaining weight, and he went to great lengths to keep that from happening. He only ate biscuits and soda water at Cambridge and sometimes even potatoes drenched in vinegar. He kept up this bizzare diet throughout his life and maintained a particular taste for water with vinegar.
On top of this, he also wore many layers of clothing to sweat off any extra pounds. Not only was his diet dangerous, but being so influential, others followed his vinegar-drenched ways, and there was a widespread concern because people were restricting themselves to vinegar and rice to get that fashionably thin and pale look.
