You’re Gaining Fat
If you’re not careful about your diet, eating more protein may cause you to gain fat from the excess calories or put you at increased risk for metabolic disease. Doctors caution that combining a regular high-fat Western diet with increased protein consumption can be harmful if your weight isn’t where it should be.
Researchers say that this might be very relevant because many overweight people globally are on a high-fat diet but might as well do weight training and supplement with BCAAs. They concluded that in people with a high caloric intake from fat, BCAA supplementation might exacerbate metabolic disease risk.
Pro-tip: Make the proper adjustments to your diet as a whole so that you’re consuming lean protein with quality carbs and healthy fats.

I was totally lost. I have most of the symptoms you mention. Constipation being the worst. I thought I was supposed to eat a lot of protein for energy which I still do not have. I also think it was caused by a medicine I take for my diabetes. I was losing weight which I was doing good but have stopped losing and feel bloated.
Great article on high-protein diets. I am so trying to lose 50 pounds (at the age of 75) and I have been leaning toward fewer carbs and replacing them with protein. Good advice. Thank you.
