Holidays are all about getting together with your loved ones and having a great time. As we all know, these gatherings mostly involve some alcohol too and, if you’re like me, the next day isn’t exactly peachy.
Luckily for all of us, fruits aren’t just a great source of vitamins and protein: they’re also the key ingredient to a delicious drink that miraculously makes your hangovers easier to handle. What’s even better, none of these recipes requires mixers or blenders and they offer you that delicious Christmassy flavour. Enjoy!
Apple Spice Celebration
Ingredients:
- 1 small Fuji apple
- 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp. pure maple syrup
- 1/16 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 shot dark rum
- 4 ounces 100% pure apple cider
- ¼ teaspoon fresh grated ginger
Preparation:
Firstly, you slice the apple to create cross-sectioned slices. Mix the lemon juice, cinnamon and maple syrup. Add the apple slices to the mix and heat the drink up. Then, you can add the rum, ginger and cider and even some ice if you enjoy cold drinks better.
Health Benefits: Apples are one of the best source of antioxidants, which help clean your body quicker. Meanwhile, ginger and cinnamon are equally great in preventing and treating inflammations while boosting your metabolism in no time.
Pomegranate Rosemary Martini
Ingredients:
- 1 shot vodka
- ¼ cup 100% pomegranate juice
- 1 Tbsp. fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1 Tbsp. fresh pomegranate arils
- 1 spear fresh rosemary
Preparation:
Start by mixing the vodka, water and juices together. Then, add some ice if you’d like to and serve the drink in martini glasses with rosemary and arils. That’s it!
Health Benefits: Even if it’s a small touch, arils are a very powerful source of fiber and protein. Pomegranates turn out to have anti-inflammatory properties, while rosemary boosts your immunity and even digestion. What could you want more from an alcoholic drink?
Blood Orange, Green Tea & Basil Margarita
Ingredients:
- 1 shot tequila
- 4 ounces unsweetened, fresh brewed green tea, chilled
- ¼ cup fresh squeezed blood orange juice
- Juice from ¼ of a fresh organic lime
- ¼ teaspoon zest from an organic lime
- 3 fresh basil leaves
- 1 slice of blood orange
Preparation:
Mix the tequila with green tea and juices. You may add as much ice as you like; afterwards, stir in zest and garnish with basil leaves. Add a final touch by placing a blood orange slice in your margarita glass.
Health Benefits: Both blood orange and lime juices are soaked in vitamin C, which boosts your immunity and helps you recover quicker. On the other hand, basil contains antioxidants and manganese, which clears your skin and makes your bones stronger.
Happy Holidays in advance!
