Orange fruits and vegetables such as pumpkins, oranges, carrots and papayas are full of lung friendly antioxidants, most notably vitamin C.
This vitamin is well known for fighting off infections and inflammation and a review of studies published in Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology actually suggested that it may play an important role in minimizing the frequency of exercise-induced asthma symptoms by as much as 52 percent.
“But aim for a variety of fruits and vegetables,” says Schiff. “Dietitians often say, ‘Eat the rainbow,’ to get a good sampling of antioxidants,” she added.
