Eggs are found in most fridges out there and for good reasons. They have an impressive nutrient profile. Eggs contain important minerals, antioxidants, vitamins, and amino acids our bodies need to function properly.

All those nutrients are also responsible for an adequate stress response. However, try to opt for whole eggs. They are particularly abundant in choline, an essential nutrient found in only a few foods.

Choline plays a crucial role in brain health, as several studies have shown. A recent one goes further, saying that choline may guard against stress.

Oysters, mussels, and clams are all shellfish. So, no matter what’s your favorite, you’ll most likely get adequate amounts of the amino acid called taurine. This amino acid has mood-boosting qualities, putting a smile on your face every time you consume shellfish.

This happens because taurine is needed for producing dopamine, the neurotransmitter that deals with stress response. As a matter of fact, it seems that this amino acid also has antidepressant properties.

Besides, shellfish are known for being rich in zinc, manganese, vitamin B12, selenium, and copper, all of which may uplift your spirits.
