Many people don’t know it, but eggs are actually good for your health, especially if you want to lose a few extra pounds. Nutritionists classify eggs as “superfoods” because they are rich in protein and other essential nutrients that are beneficial to your body. 

In general, people who are on a diet try to avoid American breakfast because it contains eggs (among other ingredients that can actually be caloric), but if you keep it simple, this breakfast may be all you need from a meal. 

The best part is that eggs contain some nutrients that can’t be found in other foods and you need them if you want to lose weight. According to nutritionists, a normal egg contains 70 calories, 6 grams of protein and 5 grams of healthy fats.  

“The amount that one egg a day raises cholesterol in the blood is extremely small, so small in fact that the increase in risk in heart disease related to this change in serum cholesterol could never be detected in any kind of study,” said Walter Willett, professor of epidemiology and nutrition at Harvard’s School of Public Health. “Elevations in LDL of this small magnitude could easily be countered by other healthy aspects of eggs.”
