8. You assume healthy-looking packaging is healthy
Just because a manufacturer uses the word “harvest” or “simple” on its product, it doesn’t necessarily mean that its product earned those words. That’s why you should look closely at its ingredients and nutrition in order to decide for yourself its status—it could still be high in calories, fat, or sugar.
“We used to have to spend all our days hunting and gathering food, and somehow we think we don’t have to spend any time anymore,” says Mills. “Turn the package over and really know what you’re getting.”
Note that companies use several methods to make you think their products are good for your health. One of them is of course the image printed on the package. We tend to unconsciously select the products that have healthy-looking packaging such us fields, farms or grains—and that’s just wrong.
