3. Beer
Gout-prone folks should remain loyal to water, because the relationship status between beer and gout is quite complicated. Drinking beer increases your uric-acid level, so you should opt for water or wine; the latter is less likely to cause a gout attack. However, don’t forget about moderation… The recommended daily intake of alcohol is no more than two drinks for men, and one drink for women (and “the drink” should contain around 0.6 ounces, or 14 grams, of pure alcohol).
During gout flare-ups, all doctors recommend alcohol abstinence, so stay away from bars and pubs.
