5. Fatty fish

Tuna, salmon, mackerel, and trout are super-healthy fatty fish. Most notably, they are recognized as superfoods due to their high amounts of sunshine vitamin (D). Almost 85 grams of salmon provides 71% of your daily vitamin D needs. But, of course, that’s not the only superpower salmon has.

In a large study, those who ate around 300 grams of salmon accumulated in a week for half a year, managed to fall asleep 10 minutes faster than those who consumed beef, pork, or chicken.

Researchers concluded that the vitamin D content found in salmon was responsible for the result of this effect. So, the higher levels of vitamin D you have, the better the sleep.

However, it seems that vitamin D is not the only one good at shutting your eyelids. The omega-3 fatty acids found in salmon are known for minimizing inflammation in the body. On top of that, they also prevent heart disease and enhance brain health.

To sum things up, eating some salmon (or any fatty fish) just before bedtime, will most likely help you get a deeper sleep.

    1. I have found that GABA works well for me to fall asleep. Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid. melatonin doesn’t help me fall asleep at all. I take GABA an hour before bedtime. GABA is a neurotransmitter that blocks impulses between nerve cells in the brain. Low levels of GABA may be linked to:

      Anxiety or mood disorders
      Epilepsy
      Chronic pain
People take GABA as a supplement to try to:

      Improve mood
      Relieve anxiety
      Improve sleep
      Help with premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
Treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
You can buy GABA at any vitamin shop.

First…be careful with melatonin. your body produces melstonin on its own. yes as we age that decreases but….if you take melatonin supplements..your telling your body it has enough and doesnt need to produce more..and it will stop production. be sure to take only small doses if you have to. now…for the restless leg syndrome….the most common cause of restless leg is a low iron level. blood test for ferritin levels need to be checked. a ferritin level under 85 is low…..you need an iron supplement ferrous gluconate easier on gi tract than ferrous sulfate…..restless leg will stop.

  6. Found a really good way of relaxing the restless syndrome.. My Dr. told me about it, fill your bathtub up with COOL water just past your ankles and sit on the side of the tub and put your feet in and just let it sit there about 5 to 7 minutes and its gone., I have it, I tried it , it worked…It is something about the nerves in your ankles that water relaxes them..Give it a try..

  7. This article would have been more helpful if it included units of measure used in the U.S. Such as ounces not grams etc.
