4. Tart cherry juice
Not a fan of eating right before bedtime? Fear not, since a juice made it to our list too. Tart cherry juice has some quite amazing sleep-promoting properties.
Numerous studies pointed out that drinking tart cherry juice before bedtime could improve your sleep quality. And, again, melatonin is responsible for that. Because it contains high amounts of melatonin, tart cherry juice prevented insomnia in 37 individuals who drank 240 ml of it twice a day for about 2 weeks, as a study suggested.
On average, the participants slept 80 minutes longer compared to when they didn’t drink tart cherry juice. For that reason, you should drink at least one glass of tart cherry juice before bedtime.
However, if you’re also struggling to get the recommended amounts of potassium, note that 250 milliliters of tart cherry juice provide 17 percent of the daily potassium needs for women and 13 percent for men.
In addition to that, you’ll also get other important nutrients, including phosphorus and magnesium.
